More Photos
At the University of California Davis, more than 100 undergraduate majors and 60 graduate programs are offered. This constitutes the biggest spectrum of studies at a Californian campus. UC Davis´ main focus is placed on generation, enhancement, distribution, and use of knowledge. To do so, it offers courses in the areas of arts, humanities, biology and physics, social sciences, agricultural and environmental programs, engineering, education, law, management, medicine, and veterinary medicine. The main library supports the students in learning and holds more than 3,29 million volumes. Culture and arts are ubiquitous as well, for example at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. Besides, there are a lot of activities to attend at the university; it has one of the country´s biggest athletic programs with more than 700 students who take part in 26 different sports. Furthermore, they can join one of the numerous student sport clubs. The Schaal Aquatics Center with its Olympia-sized pool also contributes to this activity, as well as the Equestrian Center, and a Craft Center. Students can eat or drink something in the Silo Café & Pub, or they may wish to visit the UC Davis Bookstore.

City Profile Davis, CA
Davis, in the north of California, is a town with approximately 64,000 inhabitants and lies only 120 kilometers away from San Francisco, and 211 kilometers from Lake Tahoe. There are great opportunities for ski driving and snowboarding. The symbol of the city is a wheel, because Davis is considered a bicycle city. Climatically, one can call the city Mediterranean, because the summers are hot and dry; the winters are relatively mild, and temperatures fall only on few days under the freezing point. Davis is strongly ecologically oriented; there is a bio market: Farmers Market, an ecological supermarket: Food Coop and one of the oldest ecological festivals of California: Whole Earth Day. Valuable attractions are for example the Wetlands, with their one-of-a-kind damp, or the Design museum.
