San Diego State University's campus is a city in itself. Students have everything they need from diverse shopping centers, restaurants, sport facilities, stadiums, a gigantic sport hall, to a very modern library. Fast-food fans have a McDonald´s right on campus. 75% of all students live on campus in their first semester. Only eight kilometers from from Downtown, San Diego is the gate to the Pacific and to Latin America. City Profile San Diego
San Diego is the second largest city in California and the seventh largest one in the United States. Because of its convenient climate, it is often referred to as “America´s Finest City” since average annual temperatures are 21 °C and there is scarcely any rain. Los Angeles is only a two and a half hours´ drive away, Tijuana in Mexico even only half an hour´s drive. The Pacific Ocean and the beaches are situated in the West, and this region is very popular amongst surfers. Snow peaked mountains create a natural border in the East. In spite of great ethnic and cultural diversity amongst the 1.25 million inhabitants, the city is considered as one of the safest places in the USA and is well-known for its open-mindedness and hospitality. Life is never boring since you can undertake all kinds of activities: for example visit Balboa Park with many museums such as the Museum of Art or Aerospace Museum. Those who do not want to visit a museum can go to the famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World or Legoland California. But this is only a very small extract of all choices San Diego has to offer. In the evening, the Gaslamp District or one of the numerous beach bars are very popular meeting places, especially amongst students, before enjoying nightlife.
