California State University, East Bay has two campuses, both on the East Bay Hills: Hayward Hills, from where you have a fantastic the San Francisco Bay, and Concord campus, in the scenic Concord foothills of Mt. Moreover, the Oakland Professional Development & Conference Center in Oakland belong to the university, and can be reached easily, as the main campuses, by freeways or public transportation such as the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). Close by, the Hillhopper Shuttle can be used on the Hayward campus free of charge. To reach the large metropolis, San Fransisco, one need only travel a distance of 25 miles.

Hayward is a small city with 140.000 inhabitants, and it is situated 25 miles from San Francisco. You have a wonderful panoramic view from the hills to the bay, and apart from that you can see Fremont, Silicon Valley, Oakland and San Francisco. Downtown there are some shops and a market which takes place every Saturday. There are a few locations for going out in the evening, but a better possibility is to go to one of the larger cities nearby since there are more options available. The climate in Hayward is very convenient since there always is a gentle breeze coming from the Pacific Ocean. Because of that, summers are never too hot and winters are not too cold.
