City Profile Canterbury
Canterbury is a beautiful historical city with old timbered houses and lies in the county of Kent, the "Garden of England". About 42,000 people live there, but the place attracts more than 2,5 million visitors every year. Particularly the cathedral and the more than 1,200 years old Leeds Castle are the main attractions. Those who have already studied for a few semesters know the famous "Canterbury Tales" Geoffrey Chaucer has written. The city“s big advantage is the good transport connection: the Eurostar from the continent stops in Ashford which is 25 kilometers away from the city, and the London airports Heathrow and Gatwick or the ferry harbour in Dover are within reach as well. People can spend their spare time in Canterbury since it offers something for everyone, from culture to sport and nightlife.
