Description of the Coquitlam College
Coquitlam College is a private institution that was established in 1982. It offers a wide spectrum of course of studies.

This College offers up to two years of study so that students may transfer to a British Columbia university to pursue a Bachelor's program.

Students can choose from over 100 courses every semester, and they always have an adviser to help with the course selection, career planning, or personal problems. The college organizes many special events, such as bowling evenings, camping trips, or multi-cultural days. The events make getting acquainted with Canada's culture and lifestyle easier. There are also sports available, such as badminton, basketball, ping-pong, soccer, or volleyball. Clubs and organizations are also available, for example, the Art Club, Dance Club, or the Equestrian Club.

Location of the Coquitlam College
Coquitlam College's campus is spread out over 25 hectares. There are many parking options that are free-of cost, and the Vancouver International Airport is only 40 minutes away. The campus, surrounded by beautiful gardens, is only 20 minutes away from Vancouver. The area has many stores and restaurants, a large shopping center, grocery stores, and the new Sky Train. The college collectively has 36 classrooms, laboratories, fitness complex, study hall, library, cafe, and much more. All of this provides a safe and productive environment for a successful study period.

City Profile Coquitlam
Coquitlam in British Columbia has 115,000 inhabitants and lies in a region called Westwood Plateau about ten kilometers east of Vancouver. There are numerous open spaces with an overall size of 890 hectares. More than 80 municipal parks and nature reserves are part of it among which are the big Mundy Park in the city center and the Ridge Park in the highlands near the northern city border. Furthermore, the city offers many sport and recreation sites such as 40 sand fields, a bowling green, a bocce field and many more. In addition, there are many swimming pools and water parks. Those who are culturally interested should visit the Evergreen Cultural Centre, the Place Maillardville, the Place des Arts, the Mackin House and other cultural sites in the city. The climate is rather convenient with warm summers, mild winters and little snowfall.

Description:

Students in the TEFL course to become English teachers, learn methods and techniques for instruction, and they are constantly examined and given feedback. Moreover, they develop teaching plans, choose proper teaching materials, and learn about classroom management and organization.

In addition, students have the option to participate in additional teaching situations. They also do a 12-hour internship, including preparation for other ESL students.

Requirements:

Students wishing to study at Coquitlam College are required to have completed high school or equivalent. There will be, however, an individual assessment deciding the English skill of the student. Applicants are advised to take the TOEFL examination. This is, however, not a requirement.

Host families are chosen. They offer furnished single rooms with access to a washing machine and bathroom. There are three meals per day, and the location makes access to public transportation easy. The length of time to the college is no more than 30 minutes.
